#Thegreatpoolpondconversion - 201213
During the week we were visited by another heron.
Early Saturday was a simulated half marathon run at marathon paces, so there was some residual fatigue.
More tweaking of the filter discharge (yes, this is important and we are learning a lot) for later…
Right after the run a green heron came by - look between the pots.
It hung around for about two hours and may have plucked something out of the water.
It flew in again Sunday morning as we were feeding the fish.
Stayed about an hour. Twice it jumped into the water and definitely nabbed something, then jumped out.
Not one of our fish so most likely pollywogs.
Both days it made complete circuits of the pond.
Here it’s actually standing on the wheel, but when it started rotating, well, you know…
Sunday we finished painting the deck. We’re calling it ‘done’ because it mostly looks done. We will revisit it at our leisure for the cutting in, touch up, details etc.
And we started the jasmine bed.
Friday we dared HD and got all the wood we’d need in one trip.
Dug three holes, sunk 2 posts.
Hit the obligatory coral rock, roots, etc.
Nothing picture worthy yet
It will look much like the last bed, a bit wider and a tad thinner.
The filter pump died and likely took the solar controller with it (it started to smoke). We were coincidentally and luckily standing there.
So a second pump is on order and we’ve got to figure out what happened. it’s one of a couple of things, none of which you really care about…
So a mixed bag two weeks.
Definite solid progress.
Two mechanical setbacks.
Lost a tree.
New residents and visitors.
